MTV and BET figured they would get in on the hoopla about corporate twitter accounts being hacked and got hacked on their own accord by each other.  The “hacking” was done after the report of Burger King and Jeep’s twitter accounts being hacked by real hackers.

The responses were mixed.  Some think it was a marketing gimmick to get more followers as jeep increased their following by 30% (reported by Others think it was just for kicks, and some were completely annoyed by the ploy.

Neither BET nor MTV made any public statements about the “hacking” other than their announcements on twitter that it was fake.  Did they get the reaction they were expecting? Does it even matter?
