Dr. Amy Dunbar, an ob-gyn doctor at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis, MO, posted a comment about a patient who was always late for her appointments, including her induction. This Facebook posting and the comments were not restricted, and a screen shot was posted on the hospital’s expectant mothers Facebook page by someone who believed Dunbar acted unprofessionally.
Dunbar did not name the patient in her post, and the hospital said that she did not violate patient privacy laws. Should a doctor comment about their patients on social media? Do you think Dunbar’s posting was within her rights, or did she violate her patient’s rights? View the full story here.
